Biography
Promislow, Janna, is a PhD candidate at Osgoode. Prior to her doctoral studies, Ms. Promislow served as the Executive Director of the Centre for Constitutional Studies at the Faculty of Law, University of Alberta and practiced law with Davis & Company in the Northwest Territories, where she worked with aboriginal organizations and co-management boards on implementing of the Sahtu Dene and Métis Land Claim Agreement and the settlement of residential schools claims. She is presently a member of the Major Collaborative Research Initiative group, Indigenous Peoples and Governance/Peuples autochtones et gouvernance and was awarded a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship for her doctoral project on the normative foundations of the numbered treaties in western Canada. Her research interests include Aboriginal rights, public law, comparative law, legal history, and legal theory.
